Win some, lose some

The Georgia General Assembly is finishing up biznazz today in el capital, giving a new twisted meaning to the word "progress."
The good:
1. You can bring home bottles of wine purchased in a restaurant as long as it's sealed and locked up in the trunk or glove compartment (which doesn't mean much to me, since I've yet to leave an unfinished, 70% marked-up bottle at a restaurant).
2. You can also now order wine online directly from wineries. Hopefully these guys will be included soon.
The bad:
1. Buying booze on Sundays? Still a big, fat NO.
2. HB 89 passed. You can now carry your concealed weapon-permitted gun in public spaces like restaurants, parks, MARTA and workplace parking lots. Oh goody.

We're okay, the house is okay; it completely missed our neighborhood. Molly woke us up scared and crying last night, and we realized the wind and rain sounded like a freight train (which made sense since we live near the tracks). Unfortunately, it was something much worse.
Cabbagetown and downtown look like they've been shredded to bits. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
Andisheh has some pretty good coverage and photos here.

UPDATE: So, the second tornado came and went. This was a little less scary than the one last night, but there was still hail. Again (thankfully), no damage here.
Trick or Treat

Our first Halloween in the KWD was interesting (also observed by Penelope PR and other neighbors). I was surprised to find kids already trick or treating when I came home. One of them was even smart enough to run right in front of my car without looking. Nice.
I think the ratio of kids with to without costumes was about 50/50. However, one girl "unicorn" pointed out that she did in fact have a shirt with a picture of a unicorn on it. DUH, old person.
But my favorite trick or treaters were the two toothless, thirty-something ladies that stopped by wearing flannel and unlit cigarettes and holding a couple Kroger bags.

Did anyone else notice the eerie orange-colored sky this morning?

Their "Best of Atlanta" Winner for Indian food this year is Imperial Fez.
Yep. The best Indian restaurant voted for is actually a Moroccan restaurant. Not only are the two countries, oh, THOUSANDS of miles apart, but the cuisine is ENTIRELY different.
Idiots.
