One step closer to maniacal

I may have just reached the next step of crafting mania. Behold, my new crafting printer: So what if I already have a great HP printer? Well, the Epson is highly, highly recommended by my crack dealer Paper Source for making great high definition prints on heavy papers. It's also a back-loading printer, which allows me use heavy cardstock without jamming it. The best feature I found, though, is that it will feed small pieces of paper through the feeder. Every crafter ends up with tiny scraps of paper here and there, but this will actually feed in smaller things like hang tags and tiny cards, so I'll be able to use all my leftovers instead of having to chuck them! Oh, and I got a hell of a deal for it on eBay. Needless to say, this will be very helpful with our d.i.y. wedding invitations (for inserts since we're gocco'ing the envelopments), programs, etc., and also making some new stuff for my Etsy store and the upcoming I.C.E. Atlanta show. Also, while dining at The Glenwood, we ran into Lori M. She and I bonded over laughing at stupid people and crafting, and she's started an Atlanta craft collective called Sticky Pennies. If you're interested, you should definitely check it out.

Noooooooooooo!

UPDATE: Not for sale! Woohoo! ********* Creative Loafing just reported that the Clermont Lounge is for sale. The Clermont has to be one of my favorite elements of Atlanta. The seediness is unmatched by any other dive bar I've been to, and combined with the geriatric strippers flashing their wares, it's THE place I go to dance and escape from the bullshit Midtowners and stinky, too-cool for you hipsters. Now it's up for sale and god knows what's going to happen. More douchebag condos? Like we don't already have enough of them? Where was the only place I wanted to spend my 30th birthday? What was #1 on the agenda when my girlfriends came for our Atlanta weekend? I'm in fucking tears, y'all. At the Clermont

Hello Cupcake

I don't know if it's necessarily a trend, but cupcakes at weddings rock. Brian and I immediately decided to do them because: 1. they're like little cakes, but all for YOU 2. no slicing, and portability is a plus 3. they're pretty 4. WHO DOESN'T LOVE FUCKING CUPCAKES?! I've seen some pretty darn fancy cupcakes, too, but they've all been a bit too foo-fooey. I don't want to have to pick flags and dragees and other shit off my cupcake before I stuff them down my throat (but hey, that's just me). Plus, the prices that these "special cupcakerie" people are charging? For things that are made of FLOUR, SUGAR, AND EGGS. Yeah, screw that. Anyhow, I've found something that would dress up our simple and tasty cupcakes: cupcake wrappers Voila! So cute, and so d.i.y. I love them.* * Dear fiance, we're getting these. Mmmkay, thanks.

Bangs!

Last night I dragged my upset stomach and fiance to see Colin Meloy's solo show at Variety. I was in no mood to be out, but god bless Variety Playhouse. I love the chill setting and chairs for old people like me. Laura Gibson opened the show, and I immediately fell in love with her voice. I was literally so impressed by her songs that I immediately went to the lobby to buy her cd. It's been a while since I've gotten a new folk album, so that plus Meloy's latest cover EP will pass the time this weekend. Oh, and I can't stop playing the Feist / Constantines "Islands in the Stream" cover (which is only on 7" and does not help me at all!). I almost love it as much as the original. Almost. I also have new hair. Bangs, specifically. I know I've said bangs are always a mistake (so are hats), but I think I like them this time. Crazy. This weekend is also my grad school get-together, so I'll be flying down to Florida to hang out with old classmates and talk about how old we all are. Whee. And apparently the weather is going to be awful, so no beach for me, but plenty of family stuff (including many photos of my sister trying to avoid baby bump photos).
