Rising early on a Saturday with good intentions, I walked and fed the dog, made breakfast, and sat down at the laptop to pay bills. While killing my freshly good mood while seeing my bank account dwindle, I couldn't really find anything on iTunes that I wanted to listen to. I'm fresh out of new music, and the old standbyes weren't working, so proceeded to make a new mix.
I was looking for something fun, danceable, singable, etc. It's been a while since I made a mix cd, and this one isn't stellar by any means, but I was inpired when Rob Base got shuffled into the playlist from my library. While g-talking with Dave, we volleyed lyrics from Snoop Dag to Run DMC, and it was practically kismet.
So voila - my "Old Skool" mix:
- It Takes Two - Rob Base
- Insane in the Braine - Cypress Hill
- Come Baby Come - K7
- Gin & Juice - Dre and Snoop Dog
- Push It - Salt n Pepa
- Baby Got Back - Sir Mix Alot
- It's Tricky - Run DMC
- The Choice is Yours - Black Sheep
- OPP - Naughty by Nature
- Hypnotized - Notorious B.I.G.
- The Humpty Dance - Digital Underground
- Jump Around - House of Pain
- Nuthin but a G thang - Dr. Dre
- Keep Their Heads Ringing - Dr. Dre and Ice Cube
- This Is How We Do It - Montell Jordan
- Jump - Kriss Kross
- Rappers Delight - Sugar Hill Gang
- Bust A Move - Young MC
So today's productivity? Questionable. Music? Excellent.
Oooh-ahhh, a most excellent mix indeed! I feel similarly inspired now. There goes my Saturday!
Productivity schmoductivity. As long as the music is good, what does it matter?!
Thanks for the CD… been blasting it on my way to Murfreesboro, TN today!
btw, steeling internet from the Holiday Inn while I wait for the old man to get here and drop off the little sis!
wow…awesome mix.
i would add “the message” by grandmaster flash and “joy and pain” always my favorite of the two rob base hits.
OMG! I love that list, especially Bust a Move. What a classic.
What a thing of beauty. Esp. w/ james’s additions.

As my birthday bore down on me like a herd
