There's a hilarious post on You Can't Make It Up about wedding songs. But this post is unique in that she thinks of each randomly shuffled song playing in the context of a husband and wife's first dance.
Example: "Free" by Neil Diamond. While humming "They're coming to america,Never looking back again,They're coming to America", she writes it's "Perfect for the gay Mexican marriage, where someone's scoring a Green Card."
I've been to several weddings that had the cliche songs of choice: "At Last," "From This Moment," "What a Wonderful World," gah... Seriously, they're decent songs before you hear them for the eight-hundreth time. My own wedding song was Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes." A lovely song, but I really, REALLY should have married John Cusack instead.
It could have been worse – mine was Genesis – Follow You, Follow Me. Ugh.
Remind me at the next meet up we need to toast to ex husbands.
We didnt have a first dance… Our ipod playlist crapped out on us before the wedding, and I can’t remember for the life of me what it would have been, prolly Ben Folds – The Luckiest
Genesis? Ouch.
Yes, a toast is in order!
