Yep, it sure is… my poor blog has nuked a whopping 41,800 spam comments & trackbacks, a high percentage of them in the last 18 months.
no fun at all.
That’s okay… I have had mine like that since the beginning, and it just makes more sense. Then you at least get to see what people comment on, before it gets lost in the piles.

I’ve been moderating comments since I started blogging … well, since I started using WordPress. Fortunately, WP has a feature to allow the comments of approved commenters to show up without me doing anything. It’s nice…
Yeah, I use to run Blacklist on my site for the longest time but it never caught everything. Now I have it so people with Typekey accounts are approved right away and the rest I have to approve. Plus taking the site down for a month really cut back on the spam comments.
Comment spam is the worst.
Which reminds me, have I told you about this exciting new weight loss program yet?
I’m not sure if you’re able to, but I run the spamlookup plugin on my movable type install… and it works like a charm. I was getting killed by comment/trackback spam… but now I don’t even see it anymore.
